Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh: The world-famous Mahakaleshwar Temple witnessed an extraordinary spiritual moment early Thursday as the sacred doors of the sanctum opened at 4 AM for the daily Bhasma Aarti.

Priests began the morning rituals by offering prayers to all deities inside the sanctum before performing Jalabhishek on Lord Mahakal.

The Jyotirlinga was then bathed with Panchamrit — a holy mixture of milk, curd, ghee, sugar and fruit extracts — as devotees gathered in large numbers to witness the ritual.

Divine Mahakal Bhasma Aarti Shringar with Vaishnav Tilak

Following the worship, the first ceremonial bell was sounded and Hariom Jal was offered. After the camphor aarti, the priests adorned Lord Mahakal with a silver crescent, bhang, sandalwood paste, and garlands of fresh roses.

A special highlight of the day was the application of the Vaishnav Tilak, giving the Jyotirlinga a radiant and spiritually elevated appearance.

Bhsmāraman and Royal Adornment

Once the initial shringar was completed, the Jyotirlinga was briefly covered with cloth, and the sacred bhasma was ceremonially applied.

This was followed by an elaborate royal-form shringar using bhang, dry fruits, ornaments, and fragrant flowers.

Lord Mahakal was then adorned with a silver Sheshnag crown, silver skull garland, Rudraksha mala, and multiple layers of scented floral garlands.

The fragrance of roses surrounding the Jyotirlinga created a deeply divine atmosphere for devotees witnessing the aarti.

Devotees Experience Rare Divine Darshan

After the rituals, fruits and traditional sweets were offered as bhog to the deity. A large number of devotees attended the aarti, receiving the blessings of Mahakal.
