Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh:  The world-famous Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple witnessed a deeply spiritual moment on Wednesday morning as the sanctum doors opened during the Bhasma Aarti, revealing Lord Mahakal’s calm, radiant, and awakened form.

Following tradition, temple priests performed ritual worship before completing the special adornment of the Jyotirlinga. As the doors opened, devotees were greeted with a sight marked by serenity, symbolism, and sacred energy.

The Jyotirlinga was adorned with white and saffron ash decorations. On the forehead, the Trinetra symbol was prominently displayed, with a red flame-like dot at the center and a crescent moon motif below it—reflecting both the fierce and compassionate aspects of Lord Shiva.

Ash and sandalwood markings on either side of the face enhanced the divine expression of Mahakal, giving the idol a powerful yet peaceful appearance.

A beautifully crafted white floral crown decorated the top of the Jyotirlinga, featuring roses and marigolds. Garlands made of white, purple, and yellow flowers were offered around the neck. At the base, a silver serpent idol and an ornate silver pedestal were illuminated with lamps, filling the sanctum with a sacred glow.

The ritual concluded with offerings of fruits, sweets, and traditional naivedya. Amid glowing lamps, fragrant incense, and continuous chanting of mantras, the Bhasma Aarti was completed.

A large number of devotees present in the temple experienced the divine and gentle form of Baba Mahakal and sought blessings.
