Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh: The world-famous Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple witnessed a divine and majestic sight during the Tuesday early-morning Bhasma Aarti, as the doors of the sanctum were opened for devotees.

Following the traditional Panchamrit pujan, priests performed the Kapoor Aarti. Lord Mahakal was adorned in a royal form, decorated with a silver trident, sacred Tripundra, and bhang, enhancing the grandeur of the ritual.

Sacred Abhishek and Panchamrit Worship

In the Nandi Hall, Nandi Maharaj was first bathed, meditated upon, and worshipped.

Lord Mahakal was then given a ceremonial bath with water, followed by Panchamrit prepared from milk, curd, ghee, sugar, honey, and fruit juices.

The deity was offered a silver moon, silver trident crown, bhang, sandalwood paste, dry fruits, and sacred ash.

Traditional Ornaments and Floral Decoration

Lord Mahakal was adorned with a silver Sheshnag crown, a silver skull garland, Rudraksha mala, and a fragrant floral garland, adding to the divine splendour of the Jyotirlinga.

Devotees also witnessed the offering of fruits and sweets as part of the bhog.

Bhasma Aarti Amid Devotional Chants

The Bhasma Aarti was performed with the rhythmic sounds of jhanjh, manjira, and damru, filling the temple premises with devotion.

A large number of devotees attended the Aarti and sought blessings from Baba Mahakal.

As per tradition, sacred ash was offered to Lord Mahakal by the Maha Nirvani Akhada.
