Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh: The world-famous Mahakaleshwar Temple witnessed another spellbinding moment today as the sanctum doors opened during the Bhasma Aarti, revealing Lord Mahakal’s vividly adorned and awakened form.
The ritual began with the traditional Panchamrit Abhishek, followed by an elaborate ceremonial decoration of the Jyotirlinga.
Striking Trishul–Tripund Markings Enhance the Divine Aura
Today’s adornment included a sacred mixture of bhasma and sandalwood paste, over which bold Tripund lines and a prominent Trishul were meticulously drawn.
An Agnya-Chihna was marked at the centre, while saffron, white and blue strokes around the eyes highlighted Mahakal’s intense, radiant expression.
A silver forehead cover and a cluster of fresh flowers added to the majestic visual presence.
Garlands and Colourful Drapes Elevate the Jyotirlinga’s Beauty
The Jyotirlinga was encircled with pink, white, and yellow floral garlands, creating a vibrant, divine frame. Saffron and multi-coloured drapes completed the decoration, presenting Mahakal in a strikingly grand and captivating form.
Rituals Conclude with Devotional Music
After the adornment, offerings of fruits and sweets were presented to the deity. The Bhasma Aarti concluded with the rhythmic sounds of jhanj, manjeera, and damru, filling the Sabha Mandap with devotional energy.
Large Gathering of Devotees Witnesses the Sacred Darshan
Hundreds of devotees attended the morning ritual, receiving blessings as they witnessed Mahakal’s awakened, benevolent presence.
