Amanda Knox has been reconvicted of slander in Florence, years after being acquitted of her roommate Meredith Kercher's 2007 murder.

Knox, who already served four years for the murder, will not return to prison.

Initially convicted of slandering bar owner Patrick Lumumba during police questioning, Knox's conviction was quashed last year, prompting a retrial.

Knox's lawyers plan to appeal the verdict, expressing her disappointment after years of legal battles.

Knox testified that police coerced her into blaming Lumumba, threatening her with 30 years in prison and physically assaulting her.

Apologizing, Knox said she never intended to slander Lumumba, who was her friend and comforted her after Kercher's death.

Lumumba, wrongly implicated, was arrested but released after an alibi surfaced, yet his reputation suffered greatly.

Lumumba's lawyer highlighted the severe impact on his client's life, including job loss and the need to relocate to Poland.

The hearing, conducted behind closed doors, revived global interest in the infamous case where Kercher was murdered in Perugia.

Despite the overturning of Knox's and Sollecito's convictions, Rudy Guede remains the only person serving a sentence for Kercher's murder.
