Miss Universe Philippines 2024 - Chelsea Manalo, Bulacan

Chelsea Manalo, a Filipino American, made history as the first Black woman to be crowned Miss Universe Philippines.

At 24, Manalo has faced and overcome bullying due to her skin color, using her beauty and confidence to empower others.

After her father’s death, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, beginning her modeling career at 14 to support her family.

Manalo bested 52 contestants, representing Bulacan, to win Miss Universe Philippines 2024.

Her win challenges traditional beauty standards in the Philippines, emphasizing her journey as a woman of color.

She often faced insecurities and bullying but found strength in her family's support, realizing her unique beauty.

Manalo's parents were crucial to her success, providing emotional and practical support throughout her pageant journey.

With a degree in tourism, she has been active in youth empowerment and education initiatives.

She will represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico, aiming for the country's fifth crown.

This year's Miss Universe will include over 100 countries and has removed the upper age limit for contestants.
