A packed Dallas crowd witnessed a thrilling match as Netherlands defeated Nepal by six wickets at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Group D of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024.

Max O'Dowd played a crucial role, scoring an unbeaten 54 from 48 balls, guiding the Netherlands to reach 109/4 with seven balls to spare, after a composed half-century.

Nepal's innings was restricted to 106 all out by an impressive Dutch bowling attack, despite Rohit Paudel's 35 from 37 balls being the only significant resistance.

Nepal's top order struggled against the Dutch bowlers, who took wickets regularly, leaving Nepal at 53/4 midway through their innings.

Contributions from Gulsan Jha (14 from 15) and Karan KC (17 from 12) helped Nepal reach triple figures, offering their bowlers a fighting chance.

Tim Pringle shone with a stellar performance, taking 3/20, while Logan van Beek finished with 3/18, wrapping up Nepal’s innings with back-to-back wickets.

A brief rain delay did not hinder the match, with Netherlands opting to bowl first after winning the toss, effectively utilizing the powerplay to keep Nepal's scoring in check.

Despite good bowling figures from Kami (1/18), Bohara (1/29), and Airee (1/6), O'Dowd's calm presence ensured Netherlands remained in control throughout their chase.

The win puts Netherlands in a strong position in Group D, with South Africa also securing a spot, as Nepal looks to bounce back in their next match against Sri Lanka.

Nepal had a glimmer of hope when Sompal Kami took an early wicket, but a steady 40-run partnership between O'Dowd and Vikramjit Singh (22) settled the Dutch nerves.
