Australia started their T20 World Cup campaign with a 39-run victory over a resilient Oman team in Barbados.

Key bowler Mitchell Starc gave Australia a scare with a cramp in his final over but contributed with two wickets.

Marcus Stoinis shone with a match-winning performance, scoring 67* off 36 balls and taking three crucial wickets.

David Warner also impressed, adding 56 off 51 balls to help Australia reach 164/5, despite a mid-innings boundary drought.

Glenn Maxwell was caught for a golden duck by a stunning Aqib Ilyas catch, a highlight in Oman's spirited fielding.

Oman fought hard, particularly Ayen Khan, who top-scored with 36 runs, but ultimately fell short at 125/9.

The victory gave Australia a strong start, and their adaptability to Caribbean conditions bodes well for their tournament journey.
