Mary Elle Fanning, born April 9, 1998, is an American actress who debuted in "I Am Sam" (2001) as the younger version of her sister Dakota Fanning's character. 

As a child actress, she appeared in notable films like "Daddy Day Care" (2003), "Babel" (2006), and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (2008). 

Fanning gained recognition with leading roles in "Somewhere" (2010) and "Super 8" (2011), showcasing her early talent in drama and science fiction genres. 

She portrayed Princess Aurora in "Maleficent" (2014) and its sequel, while also starring in indie films like "The Neon Demon" (2016) and "20th Century Women" (2016).
